VA Responds to Stakeholder Input Regarding Effort to Streamline Reporting/Coding
On July 29, 2021, ISASS and other organizations representing state medical associations and medical specialty societies raised several concerns over the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Supremacy Project, which focused on a national set of standards for VA providers and practitioners. The VA had proposed to revise their standards for reporting and coding.
On October 14, 2021, the Secretary of Veteran Affairs, Dennis McDonough, responded to the letter and to many of the points raised. He promised to increase transparency and cooperation with the physician and provider community. The letter included a separate document with a point-by-point response to the July 2021 stakeholder letter.
