Scientific Journal of ISASS also changes its publication schedule for 2012

The SAS Journal, the official scientific journal of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS) and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, has announced editorial changes that will better reflect the publication’s broader scope of content as well as improve the way content is delivered to its audience.

As of January 1, 2012, the Journal will change its name to the International Journal of Spine Surgery.  “This name change better represents our goal to educate spine surgeons worldwide, ” says Jonny Dover, Managing Editor.  “Our title now plainly explains one of our core strengths as a journal—our worldwide audience and authorship.”  The goal of the Journal is to promote and disseminate the most up-to-date scientific and clinical research into innovations in motion preservation and new spinal surgery technology as well as report on the scientific basis, indications, surgical techniques, complications, outcomes, and follow-up data from promising spinal procedures.

In addition to the name change, the Journal will also be changing its publication schedule—moving from quarterly issues to a “continuous publishing” model.  “Being able to publish articles as soon as they are accepted will considerably improve the speed at which we deliver the Journal’s quality scholarship to the clinicians who need it most,” adds Dover.
